Why Cordyceps extract?
You may be wondering why Cordyceps extract is better than Cordyceps powder.
The answer is simple. Cordyceps extract contains a significantly higher concentration of nutritional elements, such as vitamins, amino acids, minerals, essential fatty acids, enzymes, polysaccharides and other active chemical elements.
For instance, concentration of polysaccharides in Cordyceps powder does not exceed 5% while this percentage is much higher in the extract. However, it is important to know that concentration of active elements in Cordyceps extract products can vary significantly.
Cordysen ™ contains a high-quality Cordyceps extract, with the concentration of polysaccharides up to 40%. No Cordyceps extract products exist in the market that provide a higher concentration.
In addition, some of the nutritional elements, including the immune-supporting polysaccharides, are located inside the Cordyceps cell walls, which are made from an indigestible fibre called chitin – the same material a lobster shell is made of.
When Cordyceps is in powder form, polysaccharides have no way to interact with our immune system. (Please refer to the diagram below.)
Hot water extraction is the only clinically validated method for breaking these polysaccharides out of the indigestible cell walls.
Lastly, if you take a deeper look into the research done on Cordyceps, you will note that most of the studies are based on the use of Cordyceps extract.
During the manufacture process, we extract the Cordyceps spore that is grown inside the Cordyceps cells to ensure the effectiveness of Cordysen ™.
Manufacture of Cordysen ™
Due to the rareness of “wild” Cordyceps Sinensis, several methods have been developed for cultivating this mushroom in the laboratory. It is not necessary to grow out the mushroom on caterpillars in order to gain the medicinal benefits thus we use a specially formulated substance which based on wheat or rye. Even though grains are used in the cultivation process, Cordyceps does not contain any chemicals properties of the substance that plays role of a host. Therefore Cordyceps Sinensis extract is gluten free product.
Our Cordyceps is grown under tightly controlled conditions of temperature and oxygen content for a long period of time; up to 6 months in a special low temperature, low oxygen grow room. This period can vary depending on the cultivation method used.
After the grown period has finished the mushroom is then dried using special low temperature air dryers which we designed and built especially to capture all of the bio-active components.
The powdered mycelium is then extracted. After extraction process is completed, the extract is then encapsulated and made available for use.
